  • Option 2: Ecoparc de Montcada i Reixac

Visit Details

Option 1: ALBA Synchrotron

Theme: Advanced Science & Technology

Location: Carrer de la Llum 2-26, 08290, Cerdanyola del Vallès

Description: ALBA Synchrotron is Spain's largest scientific infrastructure and the country's only synchrotron light source. Its 3 GeV electron accelerator generates extremely bright X-ray and ultraviolet light, enabling researchers to investigate the structure and properties of materials at the atomic and molecular scale. With numerous beamlines serving fields ranging from materials science and nanotechnology to biomedicine and energy, ALBA provides a unique glimpse into some of Europe's most advanced research infrastructure.

Option 2: Ecoparc de Montcada i Reixac

Theme: Waste & Sustainability

Location: Av. Torre Mateu s/n (PolĂgon Industrial Can Salvatella), 08110, Montcada i Reixac

Description: Ecoparc 2 is a large-scale waste treatment facility in Montcada i Reixac that processes around 260,000 tonnes of municipal waste each year. The plant uses mechanical and biological processes to recover recyclable materials and organic resources, while anaerobic digestion produces biogas that is converted into renewable energy. The visit offers an insight into modern waste management, resource recovery and the practical implementation of circular economy principles.
